I finished round one of detoxing using Dr. Oz’s 2-week plan. I was estatic about my weight loss (9 pounds) and size change (2 inches every where). I slept better, was more energized and felt happier (plus my pants fit better).
Though I tried to do it again I found that I wasn’t fully comitted to cutting out sweets and not eating fast foods. So I did a little of both and maintained my loss for over two weeks.
Here’s the unexpected: first, even though I weighed the same, my belly was getting distended (fluffy)….sugar?
Second, sweets didn’t taste as sweet and the way I felt afterward was truly awful. I experienced light-headedness that was flu-like.
Third, I found myself craving the vegetables. Not plain raw ones, although those are good snacks, but concoctions such as lentil soups and baked zuchinni. Lots of spices and herbs.
It’s a struggle to say no to the mindless, easy eating of fast foods, pre-made snacks, and junk. I realize that I have to for my overall wellness.
P.S. this breakfast includes spinach with shrimp, cumin, salt, red pepper flakes. A fried egg with tumeruc, cumin, red pepper flakes, and pepper. The glass is chia seeds with almond milk and cinnamon (let it sit for about 5 minutes). So much goodness!
*green beans and 1/2 cup brown rice
*sun-dried tomato vinaigrette
*wilted spinach with turmeric, cumin, black pepper, garlic, olive oil, red pepper flakes
*whiting fish….definitely not my favorite. I bought it accidently. Still not so bad. Orange lemon pepper, cayenne, and paprika.
Lunch was roasted red pepper soup. I also made some spicy chickpeas to snack on.
Dinner is 5 oz chicken, 1/2 cup Brown rice. I made a new batch of roasted red pepper soup. I’m loving this recipe.
The red stuff? I made a sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. Super simple. Red Wine vinegar and olive oil (equal parts). About 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes. You can make your own, but I bought mine from the grocery store. Two cloves garlic, minced.Blend it all.
Now here’s the kicker. I did that and it took forever to break-down the tomatoes. Next time I’m going to put the tomatoes in a food processor for a few pulses, then put in the oil and vinegar and let it sit for about a half hour. Then I will blend it.
However it is so delicious.
There is no picture today. I have been a little crazy with donuts and sweet coffees. It all of a sudden got really cold here and I caved.
The upside is that I did so well before that I haven’t gained the weight back.
I lost 9 pounds and 2 inches(waist, hips, and belly flub).
Don’t worry. I’ll be starting again. My goal weight is 127 pounds (this is good for my height and body frame).
Today I completely cheated at work (remember I work at a donut store)…beef and cheddar niblets, soups (creamy concoctions), and donuts with maple icing.
So when I got home I was craving greens. This is salad, green beans, 1/4 rice (the end of my pre-made stuff). The dressing is homemade raspberry balsamic vinaigrette. So refreshing, truly.
